It is where contracts are won and lost, a late season chance to impress directors. Because of the interest it attracts from talent scouts, L’Avenir is always hotly contested with racing being from the gun every single day. Given the great possibilities this tour holds, Ben took his L’Avenir preparation extremely seriously, writing in one of his diaries that he was leaner than ever (see above for proof!). With the added bonus of rooming with Aussie staggiare rider, Simon Gerrans (below), Ben rode the Tour L’Avenir to impress.

For up-and-coming pros, the Tour L’Avenir (Tour of the Future) is the most important exclusively under 26 race on the European calendar. As it is in France and it is widely regarded as the most prestigious event of its kind, it is often compared to the Tour de France.
